APPLICATION:
The Alexandria Police Department is accepting application for two openings for Patrolman. Applications may be obtained at the Alexandria Police department from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday (or print and complete the PDF Application and drop it off at the station). Applications for the position will not be accepted after 4:00 p.m. on January 4th, 2008. Reserve Officers of the Alexandria Police Department may submit a letter of interest for the position to the Captain Burnett or Officer Rasmussen by January 2nd, 2008.
POSITION TITLE: ALEXANDRIA POLICE OFFICER
The basic philosophy of the Alexandria Police Department recruit-
ASSIGNMENT IDENTIFICATION:
The Alexandria Police Department personnel operate under seniority based structure.
This hiring process is for the position of patrolman, which will open November 14th,
2007. Benefits are as follows: For the 2008 year contract, a patrolman will receive
3 weeks of vacation after the completion of one year of service and 12 personal leave
days prorated at the day of hire to the end of the year. Starting yearly salary
for a Third Class Patrolman/Patrolwoman $28,479.50. After completion of the first
4 months and the approval of the shift Captain and Training Officers, the officer
will be promoted to Second Class Patrolman/Patrolwoman at a yearly salary of $30,284.06.
After the completion of the required 480 hours of training at the Indiana Law Enforcement
Academy, the completion of all field-
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be a resident citizen of the United States
2. Must be 21 years old to apply and not have reached their 36th birthday by date of appointment
3. Must have a high school diploma or GED certificate from an accredited high school, or State Board of Education.
4. Cannot have a felony conviction
5. Cannot have a misdemeanor conviction involving domestic violence under [18 USC 922 (g)]
6. Must possess a valid driver’s license from their state of residence
7. Must be a resident of Monroe Township within the first year of employment and reside within the township limits for a minimum of 5 years
8. Cannot have been dishonorably discharged from the military
9. Must pass all tests given by the Alexandria Police Department
10. Must pay 50% of all medical testing required by the State of Indiana for the reason of enrollment into Public Employee Retirement Fund (PERF).
11. Must graduate from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy within one year of hire date.
