The Street Department is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all city streets, curbs and sidewalks.  The department also offers a number of other services to residents such as; Street Maintenance Paving, Street Sweeping, Sidewalk and Curb construction and maintenance, Snow and Ice removal, Leaf Removal, Street Signage/Stop Lights, Street Trees (only), and Yard Waste pick up.

The Street Department corrects problems with street surfaces such as: potholes, broken up asphalt, sunken or depressed surfaces, cracks, chips, seal problems, etc.  We also correct or repair City curbs and sidewalks such as broken and raised areas due to City Trees or other natural causes.

Specific Service Descriptions:

Street Sweeping - City Streets and City owned parking lots are swept as part of the scheduled maintenance provided by the Street Department.  Some streets under General Provisions are swept on Mondays and Fridays.

Snow and Ice Removal - The Street Department first cleans the main, arterial roads during Snow and Ice events.  Once these have been cleared and treated (salted), the secondary and residential roads will be cleared along with City parking lots.

Leaf Pick Up - The Street Department picks up leaves every year starting mid to late October through December.  The City is divided into five precincts and leaves are picked up according to precinct.  Please note - Leaves should be raked to the curb or edge of road (where no curb exists) NOT INTO THE STREET.  These leaves can plug drains and cause localized flooding.

Street Trees (only) - The Street Department manages the maintenance of all City Street trees such as trimming, cutting, and removal from storm damages.

Yard Waste - The Street Department provides a "Yard Waste pick-up" service that is collected two days each week.  The South side of the City is collected on Thursdays, and the North side is collected on Fridays.  These services run from April to October.  Items collected are tree, shrub, and bush trimmings and grass clippings.

City Sidewalk Replacement Program:  Under this City program, the Street Department will remove your old sidewalk and/or curb, haul away the debris (waste) at no charge to you.  The Property Owner and/or resident is required to replace the sidewalk and/or curb to City Specifications within 30 days of removal.

This program can save a single resident hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, reducing liability, improve property value and beautify your City neighborhood.
