








Alexandria selected as pilot community for HomeTown Competitiveness program

Alexandria is among nine pilot communities that have been selected as a participate in the Indiana HomeTown Competitiveness program.
Lt. Governor Becky Skillman, the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA),
Ball State University's "Building Better Communities," Indiana Grantmakers Alliance,
Purdue University's Center for Regional Development/Extension Service, USDA -
Other communities picked are: Greene County, Decatur County, Town of Ferdinand, Henry County, Lawrence County, Town of Oxford, Washington County, and White County.
Indiana HomeTown Competitiveness (IHTC) offers a comprehensive approach to community and rural development.
The program encourages citizens to participate in leadership opportunities and support aggressive community and economic development plans by emphasizing four pillars: mobilizing local leaders, energizing entrepreneurship, capturing wealth transfer, and engaging youth.
The nine pilot communities will participate in Phase I of the three phase program.
As a result, communities will participate in a three day training session about IHTC,
receive technical assistance, host an IHTC kick-

Governor Skillman in making the announcement.
