ACV was founded on the principles of Asset Based Community Development which, simply put; means we use everyones’ strengths to initiate positive change.
The organization was born from the basic desire to use Alexandria’s strengths to address our challenges.
A grassroots, not-
Citizens gathered to participate in a community visioning where they were asked to identify areas in which they would like to see change and were willing to invest their time and talents toward that end.
Five areas of interest were identified:
Leadership
Quality of Life
Education
Downtown Revitalization
Economic Development
