PRESS RELEASE 1/15/08
On Tuesday (January 15, 2008), Mayor Jack Woods was able to address the Alexandria
High School students (grades 8-12) about re-initiating the Alexandria-Monroe Mayor's
Youth Commission. He shared with them the opportunity they have to make a major impact
on our community. By participating in the Youth Council, they will have a focused
voice directly to the Mayor's office and our city government, develop leadership
skills and gain a better understanding of our community. The Mayor values and respects
our youth for the knowledge and contribution they bring to our community. With an
overwhelming response, 135 students eagerly signed their name stating they were interested
in the Youth Council. The Mayor would also like to extend the an invitation to the
8th grade students at St. Mary's and any home-school or private school students grades
8-12 that are interested in know more about the MYC to contact Troy or Valerie Jerrils
